Who Can Camp?
Cornerstone Ranch is a non-denominational, Christian-centered, overnight camp for any teen in need, ages 12 to 16. Cornerstone Ranch defines "teen in need" as a teen having economic, family, social or emotional difficulties. This camp is a ranch-style camp on 1200 acres in Gardendale, Alabama. Cornerstone Ranch is not a correctional camp, but rather is preventative - its goals are to use Christian principles and activities to provide support and spiritual guidance to young people so that they make good choices. A typical day at the camp involves fishing, canoeing, mountain bike riding, basketball, archery, camp fires and other outdoor activities. Campers have to be referred, but the camp is unique because the cost is covered by sponsors.
Campers sleep overnight in the cabin which has beds with mattresses, electricity, a kitchenette, and restrooms with showers. It sleeps ten to twelve campers and two to three counselors. Directors sleep in the cabin with the campers to provide close adult supervision.
All clothing should be inexpensive but serviceable for a weekend of strenuous outdoor activities. Closed-toe shoes are preferred to sandals for all camp activities. All clothing and personal articles should be marked with a name tag or permanent marking pen. Luggage should be limited to one suitcase or one duffel bag.
All prescription medications should be brought in pharmacy-labeled containers and kept with parents/guardian at the time of check-in.
